January 15, 2009, Pittsburgh, PA — Kerotest Manufacturing Corporation’s POLYBALL™ polyethylene ball valves recently earned certification from the Certification Institute of North America (CINA), an independent, third-party product testing agency which provides voluntary certification of products for the gas distribution industry to nationally-recognized consensus standards.  CINA certification means that POLYBALL valves meet stringent performance requirements, including ASTM D-2513 and ASME B16.40.  As part of the certification process, CINA will perform unannounced audits of Kerotest’s facilities periodically to help ensure that POLYBALL continues to meet the highest product quality standards, and all POLYBALL valves will bear the CINA mark.

“This designation attests to the high quality of our POLYBALL valves,” says Bob Visalli, Kerotest president and CEO.  “CINA certification also expands market opportunities for us because it eliminates the need for utilities to perform their own product testing, saving these companies both time and money.  As utilities face cost pressures which have forced many of them to eliminate their testing labs, CINA certification is a value-added benefit to doing business with Kerotest that helps us to strengthen ties with current customers and build new relationships.”

POLYBALL polyethylene valves are available in standard and full port designs, and can operate at pressures up to 125 psi and in temperatures from -20°F to 140°F.  The valves offer superior flow, easy operation and full traceability, feature bubble-tight shutoff and are maintenance-free and corrosion-free.
